Design in Action Ramping Up for Second Year

Planning for the Future : KUBE Pays it Forward

The goal of Design in Action is introducing DC high school students who show an interest and/or aptitude for architecture to the creativity and passion that drives accomplished design professionals who are exceptional in their field. We want to show what high-quality architecture can be, and share the process that creates it.

We are hoping to encourage architectural professionals whose firms focus on high quality design to bring local high school students into their offices for one week. The student will shadow someone in the office (it could be a principal or project architect or designer), learning firsthand how the design process works and what it takes to execute a work of architecture in the field. At the end of the week we will have a gathering for all the architects and students who participated in the program.

This will be an opportunity for the students to mix with their peers, sharing their experience during the week, and what they learned from it. It will also be a chance for the architects to mingle socially. It will be a celebration of architecture and the enthusiasm that elevates design to a level of excellence.
